V for Vendetta
All I can say about this one is huh? Too much political bull shit but of course V makes me want to be able to throw knives. (I wonder if they have that at the Anaheim rec center). I guess this movie has some good fight scenes but really seems like too much of a poiltical statement. I remember reading reviews how awesome this movie was. I didn't get it. I could listen to Hugo Weaving talk all day though....he just sounds cool and is quite charasmatic as the freedom fighter V. Natalie Portman as Evey does her Sinéad O'Connor imitation (of course sans the ripping up of the pope) and is kinda a reluctant sidekick with V. Hot bald chicks are cool. Kinda hoping the carpet matches the drapes if you catch my drift. Love ya Nat!

Garden State
Garden State is quite the impressive debut from Zach Braff(yeah he is the guy from Scrubs) He wrote and directed this film. I can barely write this senseless review much less a 2 hr movie. Oh and 2 other things: there is a Method Man cameo which is pretty funny and 2) the soundtrack is pretty good too. The basic plot is Andrew (Zach Braff) returns the small town he grew up in for his mother's funeral. While there he meets Sam(Natalie Portman). They kind of become each others therapy. I thought the dialogue was well written and Natalie Portman is great as Sam. Plus she is always nice eye candy. She loves me but just does not know it. She is way too smart for me anyway. I like my hot fantasy chicks I'll never talk to dumbed down a bit.

The Bourne Supremacy
I loved this movie. Entertaining as hell. The car chase was kick ass. I really like Matt Damon as Jason Bourne. He is believable as the assasin and as someone who cares. Almost brings me to tears. Or not. I might be a little gay on Matt Damon. Not that there is anything wrong with that. The sense of realism for these movies is amazing. Apparantly all the weapons and gadgets he uses through the movie are real not made up things for the movie. They probably picked all that stuff at Walmart. They have everything. God damn this is a boring review.

Enemy at the Gates
First things first….this is an average flick at best, but the thing that irritated me the most was that neither the Russians nor the Germans talked with their respective accents. That just pisses me off, I don't know why. Nevertheless, all recent WWII movies look like they are trying to imitate Saving Private Ryan and they cannot do it. Being in Russia however during WWII looked pretty crappy as opposed to all the glamorous places WWII looked. The movie was a little long and I fell asleep for about 20 minutes and did not miss anything….what does that tell you? The love story in this is completely pointless. Once again Rachel Weisz is not naked so that blows. It is something for the chickies I guess. I think that is an insult and chicks should protest by burning bras (hot chicks only please). Worth a rent if nothing else is there or better yet wait for cable.

40 Days and 40 Nights
40 Days and 40 Nights I was not expecting much from and lo and behold I did not get much. A guy has a brutal breakup and gives up sex for lent. There are some funny lines but you are mostly sitting there saying in your mind "huh…...that's kind of funny". The only redeeming factor is this movie has a lot of boobs at one point. Thank god for freeze frame on DVD's….woo hoo!!! In the words of Forrest Gump "….And that's all I have to say about that".

Signs
Signs was pretty good. I really like how M. Night Shyamalan takes supernatural items (ghosts in The Sixth Sense, Super heroes in Unbreakable which I love more everytime I see it, and aliens in this one) and makes them seem like they would really happen. Anyone looking for a twist a la The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable will be disappointed because there is not a clever twist in this. He can't do that in every film you boneheads!!!! The basic plot is Graham (Mel Gibson) is a former preacher who raises his 2 young children on a farm in Pennsylvania with the help of his younger brother played by Jouquin Phoenix. Graham has lost his faith due to the fact that a driver (played by M Night Shyamalan) who fell asleep and killed his wife. Then mysterious crop circles starting appearing all over the world and one is in Graham's farm. Turns out from what I remember to be a navagation sytem aliens will use to help take over the earth. The score in Signs was very good and always gave you an uneasy feeling. Overall I like this movie but I would say it is Shyamalan's 3rd best film but it is unfair to compare it to his other work. On a side note, I bought this on DVD and this has got to be the worst Vista Series ever!!!!!!!

About a Boy
I was kind of expecting another romantic comedy with Hugh Grant but it turns out the romance is a sub plot of the real characters: a late thirties man, who lives off the royalties of one hit song his father wrote, and a boy who lives with his whacked out mom. They both are missing something from there lives but as they meet each one figures that they may need a bit more in life, especially Will. I liked Hugh Grant as Will and I think he delivers one-liners with the best of them. Nicholas Hoult is also pretty good as Marcus the misfit boy. There are some pretty good laughs but it gets kind of serious about half way through and gets boring. I was hoping Rachel Weisz would get naked for some needed adrenaline but alas no. Call me insensitive but hey what are you gonna do? But if you like Hugh Grant I do not think you will be disappointed with About a Boy.

Frailty
I do not really want to give too much away because this is one you should see for yourself unless you do not like creepy flicks. Frailty is Bill Paxton's directorial debut and is the story of a family where the father believes it is his family's job to destroy demons by the word of God. If you like dark movies here is your cup o tea. It also has a couple twists and turns that really make it interesting. Bill Paxton is not such a great actor in my book but he does fine and so do his kids in this movie. Matthew McConaughey is very convincing as one of Bill Paxton's grown up sons who comes to an FBI agent in charge (Powers Boothe) to tell him he knows who the "Gods Hands" serial killer the FBI is looking for. This leads to McConaughey telling the story of his family and what his father believed as truth. Quite interesting but pretty creepy.

xXx
I liked The Fast and The Furious so I was looking forward to xXx being that same star same director must equal entertainment. This was like a cross between James Bond and the X games but with bad acting and a lame plot. Hmmmmm…action movie with lame plot, you never see that anymore!!!! Actually I was going to recommend this but after rethinking for a few days it kinda sucks. It has some unrealistic stunts and the special effects are not really that good. Thinking back I think where you lost me is where Xander uses a heat seeking missile to find a guy smoking a cigarette. By the way does anybody remember that xXx was in The Spy Who Loved Me as a Russian agent? Hellooooo….originality please!!!!! I think this is the simple version of 007 for the Playstation generation under 13. . Any ways Vin Diesel is Xander Cage, a career criminal who runs a web site where he performs stunts and then gets recruited by the government to be a spy. He then tries to stop a villain from taking over the world with chemical weapons. What a god damn surprise!!! I'm losing more and more faith in the action movie genre. The next one I will try is The Transporter. I hope me faith is restored by the guy from Snatch (which is 100,000 times better than xXx)

Unfaithful
This flick just rubbed me the wrong way. Diane Lane and Richard Gere were pretty good in their roles but I just wanted to punch Diane Lane's character in the face. Look something up in the dictionary for me….morals ya dumb ho'. The scene with her on the way home on the train after her first "encounter" with Captain Long Schlong, I was hoping the train would explode and the movie would end but noooooooooooooo….we have to sit through all this bull shit of cheating and her enjoying every minute of it. I'm really done talking about this movie because it just pisses me off and I have nothing smartass to say. Wait yes I do….Could they have found a worse kid for this movie? Go back to Malcolm in the Middle!!!!

Ice Age
Ice Age is a movie I would categorize as cute. Most of the time I think cute movies suck but lately I think my paternal instincts are kicking in and I can stomach them more. The other thing that is irritating is the use of recognizable voices in cartoons lately. I really think you lose the effect when Ray Romano or someone of that caliber voices an animated character. All I see throughout this film is Ray Romano standing in some studio being Ray Romano. John Leguizamo and Dennis Leary at least create character voices although more so Leguizamo than Leary. But any ways…enough ranting. I liked this movie a lot and I think it is ok for kids although it can get a little violent but not too bad. All three put in good performances and there is good dialog between the 3 main characters. The CG animation is not stellar but it is good enough. The sub plot about the squirrel and the acorn I thought was the funniest thing in the movie. That's about all I have to say about this movie…..great for kids and parents alike.

K-19: The Widowmaker
I usually love submarine movies as they have excellent use of surround sounds. This one just did not grab me all that much. The plot was interesting but the execution of the story was very sloooooooow. K19: The Widowmaker is (to sum up) the story about a nuclear submarine catostrophy during the cold war for the Soviet Navy. It was a little over 2 hours long and I do mean long. Maybe it was because it was the characters were Russian that I did not really care if they all died and I never really felt that this was a very urgent situation and that they need to fix their crappy sub. Although they did show the after effects of radiation poisoning and boy does that gotta suck. Performances were good from Liam Neeson and Harrison Ford were good but it was hard to believe them as Russians. C"mon it's Indiana Jones and Qui-Gon Jinn.
